I want to help you create the life you have always dreamed of…

Meet Stephanie Townsend, LMSW, ART Practitioner, CCTP

You’re constantly questioning yourself, living in constant states of anxiety and depression, and always looking for new forms of change and relief. You may even be trying to figure out how to get back to a place you once were where peace and relaxation didn’t seem like such a distant memory.

Let’s change that.

I work to create a “unique-to-you” plan so that you’re not stuck with the same tools you’ve tried before that do not work or worked for a little while but the effectiveness seemed to fade. I prioritize traveling back in time and getting to know the foundational memories that set you on the track you’re on today. Working through the discomfort in the past allows your body to let go and be comfortable in the present and future.

I do this work because I survived trauma, eating disorders, and attachment struggles myself.

I take a special interest in working with trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment issues, and eating disorders because I was there myself. You won’t come to our session and talk to someone who doesn’t get where you are and I hold a gentle space for you and your journey.

Therapy with me is…

  • I strive to keep a delicate balance between evidence-based practice and lived experience. I will not offer anything that doesn’t have science backing it but I understand that not everything is one size fits all.

  • I’m not a quiet therapist. I do not adopt a philosophy of being passive within a session that leaves room for a lot of long pauses. I will not over-ride your session but I am more likely to share feedback, ask more questions, and dive a little deeper into the conversation.

  • The way I do therapy is heavily based on including you in your treatment. I want you to be bought in just as much as I am. I take special efforts in talking out my thoughts on what therapies I think would be best and hear your feedback on my recommendations.

  • You never have to worry about, “Is my therapist sugarcoating this?” I’m always a fan of honest and direct communication. I’ll tell you my thoughts on whatever you bring to the session. I have a want for you to not need therapy at some point and dancing around topics is not how you effectively get there.
