Eating Disorder Therapy in Sandy Springs, GA

Your mind and body

Reclaimed…

Food anxiety does not have to be forever.

Get to the core of your struggles with eating and body image.

There’s always a new way to “get better".” Society is full of empty promises to cure disordered eating.

You remember when eating and looking at your body wasn’t such a chore, but that seems like a distant memory. You don’t feel in control of yourself or the environment around you. Food is the one thing you can control but it’s also the major thing holding you back.

Re-gain your sense of control and create a transformation with higher self-esteem and tools to manage the bad days.

What does disordered eating therapy look like?

Allow yourself to embrace every last bit of yourself.

You never expected food to be the big struggle in your life. You were prepared for career choices, heartache, tough financial times, and everything else in between. You still have these daily stressors but… you can’t seem to shake this constant noise about how your body should look different and how you can manipulate your food intake to make it look that way. You find yourself running out of coping skills after a really crap day and the next thing you know, you’re 20 minutes into a binge before you even recognize what you’re doing. You make an effort to hide your eating habits from friends and loved ones. When did that become so normal? You’re constantly running into the next meal plan, medication, or workout plan that swears it’ll fix all your problems, but ultimately you end up back in the same place, only blaming yourself.

Choosing to engage in therapy for disordered eating is a choice that requires you to look at all aspects of your life. I’ll walk you through identifying triggers, creating a softer environment in your day-to-day, necessary medical information, education, the root of your need for control, and much more. It is no secret that you are often times attempting to cope with the anxiety or need for control in one aspect of your life but it manifests in how you look at yourself and your relationship with food.

Release yourself from the constant noise that fixates on food

I will help you…

Understand how your disordered eating came to be and how it touches everything around you.

Despite how it may feel, disordered eating does not show up overnight. This struggle is a culmination of many years of attempting to “fix your body” without getting to the root issue. It’s time to look at how far-reaching this struggle sits in your life.

Explore your personal triggers and the root of what your body is trying to accomplish.

Binges and restrictions don’t come out of nowhere, our body and brain runs across multiple triggers in a day and you owe it to yourself to understand what those are and how to create behaviors that ultimately honor you and your body.

Learn skills to help manage cravings, urges, bad days, and poor body image.

The good news is that you’re not powerless in this situation. You and I will create a plan to help manage the worst of the worst while also creating a deeper understanding of yourself and where it all comes from.

Overcome the overwhelming thoughts and feelings by getting to your core

Got Questions? I’ve Got Answers.

  • In my opinion, not much. The main difference is whether or not the types of struggles you have with food or eating can be described within a diagnosis or not within the DSM. The main point of therapy for eating disorders or disordered eating is not to diagnose you but to understand the root of your struggles and help you regain a healthy relationship with food and self.

  • Describing an eating disorder can be hard to quantify but if you find yourself setting rules around “what” and “when” you can eat, blaming specific foods for unhappiness within your body, and how much you can eat in one day without guidance from a professional, those may be good indicators that you could be struggling with disordered eating.

  • I use multiple approaches to fully understand your relationship with yourself and food. I help guide you toward thought tracks that lean towards neutrality and acceptance rather than an overload of appreciation and positivity. As needed, I also work to provide more professionals in your corner to provide education and rule out other medical diagnoses.
