PTSD Assessments
Your story,
told in undeniable ways
Online & In-person in Atlanta and throughout Georgia
You signed up to risk it all for the freedom and protection of your country, and now you’re having a hard time accessing what is correctly owed to you. Obtaining a 3rd party PTSD assessment might help you be heard and help you receive the benefits that are there for you. PTSD assessments completed by third parties must be considered when reviewing VA benefits and determining your monthly disability percentage.
You can access in-depth and thorough PTSD documentation and assessments either in person or virtually, and on your time.
What is a PTSD Assessment?
Currently, The Cozy Couch Counseling works with military veterans to provide thorough documentation on how your service still has a major impact on your life today. This assessment will capture your narrative of the events you experienced while in the service that have left long-lasting emotional and mental marks. We gather your own words as well as collect important data about your symptoms so that we are able to connect these symptoms to military-related events.
Veterans have a right to claim for disability, and we want to help you get what you are owed. The documents you will receive from us at the end of your assessment are a full PTSD assessment with additional diagnoses if appropriate, and a Nexus letter speaking on service-related connection.
We take the time to hear you fully, and there won’t be any rushing or dismissal of your story or symptoms. We understand that these events can be hard to retell to a stranger, whether it be the first time or the 100th time. We never force any information that doesn’t feel safe enough yet, but we do work hard to understand the concepts of your story and how you live with it today.
What is the process of a PTSD assessment?
Reach out to schedule your PTSD assessment. You can schedule virtually or in person. Please allot two hours for your appointment.
You’ll receive an intake packet from us, as well as directions on how to find us in person or how to log onto your virtual appointment.
Show up! The first part of the assessment is working through a number of assessments that clinically capture your symptoms; the second part of this assessment is your own verbal narrative of the events.
If needed, we will do any wrap-down to calm down any big emotions or triggers that came up during the assessment.
You can expect your full PTSD assessment and Nexus letter within 5 business days of the assessment.
I have some questions about getting a PTSD assessment
No, this shouldn’t be considered a replacement for therapy. While we take the time to hear you out and give you space to process some bigger feelings, we don’t do the “work” that happens in a therapy session. We do a lot of information gathering during this appointment, and have a lot of ability to leave people feeling triggered. We do recommend following up for additional sessions of trauma therapy or Accelerated Resolution Therapy.

Is this trauma therapy?
There are no promises we can make throughout this process. We can only promise to do our part and advocate for you through our documentation. We are happy to work with you on any clarifying documentation or secondary claims, but ultimately all decisions are left up to the VA.
Does this guarantee me a high disability rating?
Absolutely, if you feel like you’re more so looking for other mood disorder related connections, we can help with that. Additionally, we can help with secondary claims such as depression from chronic pain.
Can I get other assessments? Like anxiety or depression?
Assessments are $400; we do accept HSA’s and are in the process of accepting other credit options. We do not accept insurance.
