Accelerated Resolution Therapy
Move past
the pain for good
Online and In-person counseling in Atlanta and throughout Georgia
Have you tried the traditional talk therapy route before, trying to move on from the parts of life that hurt you, but the results just weren’t what you needed?
Maybe you’ve tried similar therapies before, like Brainspotting or EMDR, and while you felt some positive shift, there are just some things that won’t seem to budge?
Are you looking for a new approach to move on from trauma, anxiety, depression, anger, substance use, eating disorders, and more in just 1-6 sessions?
Accelerated Resolution Therapy might be a good fit for you.
What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy?
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an eye-movement-based therapy that requires minimal talking and no information about the topics you want to process. ART helps “erase” and “cut” the emotional chord we have to specific memories, feelings, places, or even symptoms. You may share details of what you’re wanting to work on if you want to, but the beautiful thing is, I don’t have to know anything, which makes this therapy a great fit for veterans, first responders, anyone with memories they can’t talk about, or anyone who is just tired of talking about it. During the therapy, you’ll be accessing eye movements similar to what we do in REM sleep. REM sleep helps with memory consolidation and emotional regulation. However, you’re fully aware and have choice throughout this therapy. While engaging in these eye-movements, we focus on desensitizing, rewriting, erasing, and neutralizing negative images and sensations, giving you a more thorough and wholesome feeling of healing and relief.
Who is a good candidate for ART?
Anyone can be a good candidate, but for a successful series of ART, and for the treatment to have the best results, we look for:
Those who are motivated for change. This isn’t a miracle therapy that works against the brain’s will.
Those who can hold and continue a thought.
Those who are tired of the symptoms and feelings that they experience daily.
Are willing or open to trying a new therapy, or giving another “eye-movement” therapy a go.

I have some questions about Accelerated Resolution Therapy
Ultimately, the science is the same. We know that major trauma and symptom processing happen under bilateral stimulation (moving your eyes side to side, or holding tappers). However, EMDR’s protocol is much more “open” and has minimal clinician interaction. This can make it difficult if you become unsure what to do with traumatic images and memories, and sometimes leaves you living in a very triggered space in between sessions. During Accelerated Resolution Therapy, your therapist is much more involved, looking for if you become stuck, offering replacement images, tools to move sensations, etc. You should leave each session regulated and calm, creating a sense of “closure” around the memory. Ultimately, both therapies are fabulous, but there are noticeable differences.
What is the difference between Accelerated Resolution Therapy & EMDR?
A general ART session can take anywhere from 60-90 minutes to complete, and we noticed that most memories and symptoms experience very noticeable shifts and changes within 1-6 sessions.
How long does it take to work?
There’s a reason why we love this therapy so much! We don’t have to know anything. Of course, if we know the general concept or idea, it helps us provide assistance throughout the session; however, our clinicians have completed sessions with no knowledge of the event, and our clients still experience major relief.
Do I have to talk about my trauma or symptoms?
Is this considered talk therapy?
No, it’s not. We actually see better results when there’s less talking and verbal processing.
Nope! Many people leave our office and go straight to work after their session, or just generally go about their day. You may be a little sleepy, but nothing that should be of concern.
