Do you feel like you’re often misunderstood, labeled as angry or reactive when you’re just trying to talk about your reality?

Is it difficult to find people who understand the way you express yourself, and you often feel isolated or alone?

Do you feel like you push people away before they have a chance to let you down, or before you say or do something you don’t mean?

Is therapy for anger and big reactions the right decision?

If you feel like you experience any of the following:

  • A hard time finding skills that allow for regulation and processing at the same time

  • “Acting before thinking,” often saying or doing things you come to regret later

  • Feel deeper than the people around you, and often feel misunderstood

  • Experience loss of friends, family, or community as a result of behaviors or statements made

  • A desire for change in the way you express yourself, but nothing seems to stick

  • Or anything else you may find as a barrier to your truest life with big emotions and honoring self.

Starting therapy for rage and other big emotions might be the right choice.

We hear you, we see you. In a world that has worked incredibly hard to tell you that you’re too much, too angry, too sensitive, too worried, we want you to know that you’re just right. You can recognize that the things you say and do typically don’t get the reaction you’re looking for from people, but you aren’t sure how else to be in order to honestly talk about your reality and perspective. Oftentimes, things can just feel like they’re too much, making it easier to pull away or isolate from others despite desperately wanting community and support. You can acknowledge that sometimes parts of you can get you into trouble or walking on eggshells around others, arguably making everything else worse. However, you can’t seem to find the right formula where you feel heard and safe, and others are happy with you at the same time. At The Cozy Couch Counseling, we work hard to collaborate with the biggest parts of you that tend to be reactive or loud and work to create a “pathway” to fully understand the needs of those parts and collaboratively work with them to see what other approaches and skills feel safe to use. We help you build tools and understand, we provide space, and we unconditionally hear you.

I have questions about therapy for anger and other big emotions:

No, this is not anger management, and shouldn’t be replaced for anger management if that’s a specific curriculum you need or are ordered to do. However, you can expect relief and shifts within your anger if you sign up for this therapy. We just cannot claim this is anger management just in case you need a specific therapy for legal requirements.

Is this technically anger management?

We cannot make hard and fast claims on when you’ll be “cured” or be better. However, we have noticed that people do tend to feel better after 6-9 months of consistently meeting.

How long does this process take?

You have the choice of either! We have in person offices at 6667 Vernon Woods Dr., Atlanta, GA 30328. We also have options for HIPAA-compliant tele-health video calls.
