Meet Maddie, LMSW
Trauma is any event that causes lasting painful or negative interference in your life. Trauma does not have to be ongoing; it can be a one-time event. Not every negative event leads to trauma, and people have different baselines. What is traumatic for you may not be for someone else, and that’s ok.
The symptoms that you experience can range from anxiety, to depression, to self-harm, or suicidal thoughts and ideation. All of these are normal expressions of trauma, however because they disrupt your life, we offer relief through therapy. Therapy is a powerful tool in trauma recovery. Trauma often is brought about by forces outside of your control. In therapy, we offer a space where you can regain the power and control that you need while processing the feelings and thoughts you are having.

Navigating a world that wasn’t built for you, in systems that don’t understand you, can be really difficult. We want to offer you a space where you don’t have to be anything to anyone, where you don’t have to mask, remember, fail. This space is safe, and understanding, and recognizes the beautiful way your brain works. It’s the space you deserve in the world.

Therapy with me is…
-
Even in serious work, there is room for laughter. There is room for lightness. Therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff or clinical. Sometimes, a well-timed smile, humor, or shared moment of relief helps us breathe while doing the hard work.
-
I show up steady. Honest. Present. We don’t avoid hard things, but we approach them in a way that feels manageable.
-
You are the expert on your life. I don’t take over your story; we work together to understand it.
-
Shame does not run the room here. We approach your story with care, even when it’s complicated.
